Youth Vote on the Rise?

Today's Boston Globe reports that the number of voters under 30 participating in the Iowa caucuses tripled since the 2004 election.  The article further suggests that young voter participation was important for both victors in Thursday's contest.

Could this be a harbinger of things to come?  Are young voters participating at a level that candidates will need to focus more on their views and interests?  What might be done to further encourage young voters to participate?
