Meeting Richard Dreyfuss

I had a chance to meet yesterday with Richard Dreyfuss.  As noted in a previous post here, this accomplished actor is now turning much of his energy and talent to civic education.

When some celebrities adopt a cause, they seem to just have a cursory understanding of the issue and are focused on the photo op.  But after spending the better part of the afternoon listening to Richard's ideas about a compelling new civics curriculum, I can tell you that his commitment to this is for real!  He is a very well-read student of history and brings a lot of substance to the issue.  read more »

More Fourth and Fifth Graders Making a Difference

Although this story comes from New Hampshire, we can certainly relate to it as citizens of Massachusetts. At Wells Memorial School in Harrisville, NH, a group of fourth and fifth grade students have formed a civics club.  read more »
